The Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital expansion project in Wildomar, California has topped out. The project team includes general contractor DPR Construction and design architect HOK. The new seven-story, 290,000-square-foot patient tower will accommodate 102 beds to support Riverside County’s growing population. The campus will be equipped with leading-edge clinical technologies for minimally invasive procedures and advanced therapies, and sustainable infrastructure including energy-efficient LED fixtures and solar panels. The Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust was joined by BAM to celebrate the opening of the new Trelawny Scanning Suite and Haematology and Oncology Ward in Truro, England, almost three years to the day when building started. Construction of the new extension to the Trelawny Wing is the culmination of over 250,000 person-hours, by 1,500 individuals. Groundbreaking was recently celebrated for a new residence hall complex for Cal Poly Humboldt, located in California, and the largest student housing project in the university’s history. The 964-bed Cal Poly Humboldt Student Housing Project will offer two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments with common lounges, study areas, conference spaces, computer and TV rooms, onsite laundry and a fitness center. BESIX and Wycor have been awarded the contract for a new campus and retail space on the Meir in Antwerp (Belgium). The project comprises the transformation of a building complex including the former site of Belgian telecommunications company Belgacom (now Proximus) and the two adjacent buildings. Located in the commercial center of Antwerp, the buildings — including the former Belgacom building — are getting a new, twofold destination after years of vacancy.
