Construction has been completed on a new high-rise creative office building in the arts district of Los Angeles, California. Ware Malcomb provided architectural design services for the project; Lowe developed the project; and Swinerton provided general contracting services. The nine-story project totals more than 113,000 square feet and is situated along the Los Angeles River. Heartwood is a workforce housing development standing at eight stories and 67,000 gross square feet. Swinerton, in collaboration with affordable housing provider Mercy Housing California, announced dozens of youths participated in the “Minds Under Construction” festival in San Francisco’s Sunnydale neighborhood on Nov. 5. At the event, which was dedicated to advancing understanding and inspiring passion for the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, participants worked with 3D printers and learned about designing earthquake-safe homes, working with electrical circuitry and water engineering.
