Trimble’s Siteworks Machine Guidance Module for tilt bucket attachments is now available. By integrating the full range of motion of the tilt bucket’s cutting edge into the Siteworks machine guidance and layout software, field operators can achieve precise grading and leveling, efficient ditch cleaning and shaping, accurate backfilling and complex slope work. This allows for construction of contoured landscapes and effective operation in confined spaces, saving time and preventing costly mistakes. The Siteworks Machine Guidance system is designed for seamless transitions between tasks. Operators can utilize the same system for both surveying and machine control, moving it effortlessly between machines … Read more
Purdue University to Launch Lab with Focus on Construction Management Technology
Purdue University and Trimble are establishing a Trimble Technology Lab at Purdue focused on teaching and research for construction management technology in West Lafayette, Indiana. The lab is hosted by the School of Construction Management Technology within the Purdue Polytechnic Institute and will bring Trimble’s construction technologies into a dedicated learning environment for Purdue students to learn and innovate. The lab is expected to open in early 2024 and will be part of the institute’s evolving footprint at Dudley and Lambertus Halls. The connected buildings, which opened in April, house a mix of polytechnic and engineering labs, makerspaces and classrooms with the goal of fostering an atmosphere of collaboration … Read more
Digital Workflows Help Design, Construction Companies Manage Projects, Companies Better
The ability to share digital data effectively is a critical factor that impacts the success of digital transformation in the design and construction industry. This includes both the ability to share data within different departments in the same company or across multiple companies involved in the same project. New research from Dodge Construction Network, together with Trimble, published in the Connected Construction SmartMarket Brief series, reveals that owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and specialty trades are utilizing digital workflows to share project information. The findings show, though, that internal connections are far more common than external ones, with nearly half of all respondents (48%) … Read more
Trimble Robotic Total Stations Built for Today’s and Tomorrow’s Jobsites
Trimble has introduced the latest addition to its portfolio of robotic total stations — the Trimble Ri. Offered in multiple configurations to meet a diverse set of workflows, the Trimble Ri is ideal for MEP, concrete, steel and general contractors. The base units can be scaled remotely via annual subscription licensing packages and software customization. Easy to operate with extended layout capabilities, the total station provides longer laser range, focusable EDM, eye-safe laser pointer and improved target tracking. Leveraging Trimble FieldLink software on a tablet or FieldLink MR on a Trimble XR10 for Mixed Reality, users can control and automate … Read more
New Study from Dodge Construction Network Reveals Digital Transformation Led by Construction Owners
Dodge Construction Network, in partnership with Trimble, released a Dodge SmartMarket Brief based on a comprehensive study of owners, architects, engineers and contractors. The study and resulting report evaluate the use and benefits of digital workflows in the construction industry. This report is the first in a series based on the study findings and entitled Connected Construction: The Owners’ Perspective. Owners are highly influential in the design and construction industry and are often essential to driving change. This report reveals the degree to which owners have already embraced digital workflows for multiple design and construction processes and suggests that owners’ … Read more
