Construction is underway on the planned $1.7-billion public health laboratory that will transform New York’s ability to detect, prevent and respond to emerging public health threats. Construction is being delivered through a Design-Build contract led by the joint venture of Gilbane Building Company and Turner Construction Company, with design partner HOK. The final beam for the University of Georgia School of Medicine’s medical education and research building was recently set into place — a milestone that marks the completion of the structural phase of the building. UGA broke ground on the building in May 2024. Turner Construction Company is serving as the general contractor on the project. The final beam for the University of Georgia School of Medicine’s medical education and research building was set into place Nov. 25. Turner Construction Company is serving as the project’s general contractor. The 93,000-square-foot building, located on UGA’s Health Sciences campus in Athens, Georgia, will serve as the primary educational building for the School of Medicine.
