Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, has been selected by the Essonne Département to design, build, operate and maintain two secondary schools in the towns of Wissous and Gif-sur-Yvette, in the southern suburbs of Paris, France.
These two ambitious environmental projects, part of a global performance contract worth over £70 million, have been designed with the intention of creating an innovative educational environment. The schools will accommodate 1,400 students at the start of the new school year in September 2025. The project illustrates the company’s commitment to meeting the essential needs of local communities.
The new secondary schools in Wissous and Gif-sur-Yvette, which will help to meet the needs of the Essonne Département’s fast-growing population, will provide optimum conditions for learning and teaching. Notable features of both schools will include hybrid functionalities, shared and flexible spaces, adaptable uses to support changes in teaching methods and fertile gardens.
Both projects are designed to be exemplary in terms of their environmental footprint, in particular to the use of timber and bio-sourced materials and the attention paid to comfort in the summer.
The project aims to achieve the 2025 threshold of the RE2020 regulations, the HQE Excellent label, the bio-sourced level 3 label and the creation of an urban cool island.
