TK Elevator’s Innovation and Qualification Center, featuring the tallest elevator test tower in North America, has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification. Brasfield & Gorrie was the project’s general contractor. To achieve LEED Gold certification, the IQC realized a 12% reduction in embodied carbon compared to typical construction through concrete mix optimization — using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash. This approach saved 2.36 million pounds of carbon-dioxide emissions. Workorder Develops AI Software to Automate Construction Takeoffs

Workorder, Inc., a construction technology startup, has raised a $1.1-million pre-seed round from UBMB and Mucker Capital to assist in the launch of its innovative software for the construction industry. The company’s software is a first-of-its-kind for construction estimating. It uses image recognition, deep learning and optical character recognition, among other technologies, to automatically detect, measure and count objects in construction blueprints.
