Construction is complete on The Birmingham, an historic Campbell Soup factory site redeveloped as a three-building facility to accommodate light industrial and E-commerce uses in the South Etobicoke district near downtown Toronto, Canada. Ware Malcomb provided architecture design services for the 398,000-square-foot project. General contracting services were provided by Leesswood Construction. Owned by QuadReal Property Group, the three new buildings range from 157,710 to approximately 120,000 square feet, each with 36-foot clear heights. STRABAG Tapped to Build 3 Slovenian Projects Worth €98.3 Million
The Slovenian subsidiary of STRABAG SE has added three new building construction and civil engineering projects to its order books. The company won a public tender for a new construction project for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the capital city of Ljubljana. The new university complex with a contract value of €46.4 million will consist of two interconnected building sections to replace the outdated faculty buildings. C-Crete Pours World’s First Basalt-Based Concrete
C-Crete Technologies has deployed the world’s first basalt-based concrete, a significant move forward in the company’s development of eco-conscious construction materials. The recent pour at 7200 Woodlawn in Seattle, Washington was for a 20 ton, slab-on-grade outdoor concrete foundation for a loading dock stem wall and partial ramp replacement, using basalt as the primary binder entirely, replacing Portland cement.
