American Iron and Steel Institute Report Supports Development of New Energy Standard
The American Iron and Steel Institute has published a new cold-formed steel framing research report, “AISI RP20-2: Development of a U-Factor Calculation Procedure for Cold-Formed Steel C-Shaped Clear Wall Assemblies.” The report is available for free download at http://www.buildusingsteel.org. The research was undertaken to support a new energy standard being developed by AISI’s Committee on Framing Standards. Joint-Venture Team Wins Project of the Year, Partnering Awards
Joint-venture partners Sundt Construction, Inc. and Kiewit continue to earn awards for their work on the Ina Road Traffic Interchange. The two-and-a-half-year project was recently awarded the 2020 “Public Works Projects of the Year” by the Arizona Chapter of the American Public Works Association in the category of Transportation: over $75 million and the 2019 Arizona Department of Transportation Partnering Award. The construction manager at-risk project involved reconstruction of the interchange at Ina Road as a precast concrete bridge overpass to I-10. Bulletin Examines COVID-19, Health Disparities among Construction Workers
The new issue of CPWR’s Data Bulletin provides updated employment and health information on construction workers and risk estimates in the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings show that nearly 60% of the construction labor force has at least one factor (old age, underlying medical conditions, smoking, e-cigarette use or severe obesity) for potentially higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19, similar to the working population in general.
