BIA Opens Entries for 2025 Brick in Architecture Awards

The Brick Industry Association has opened entries for the 2025 Brick in Architecture Awards, the international design competition featuring fired-clay brick. Entries are due by Aug. 29. New this year, the 2025 winning projects and teams will be honored live at the Inaugural Brick Excellence Gala on April 9 at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida. The event will unite architects, designers and masonry professionals to celebrate outstanding brick design and craftsmanship. Hoar Construction Breaks Ground on New Oak Springs Elementary School Building in Texas

Hoar Construction announced today the groundbreaking of a new building for Oak Springs Elementary School in Austin, Texas. The project is part of an ongoing bond program for Austin Independent School District, which was approved in 2022 and includes over $2 billion worth of capital projects for local schools. It is estimated to be completed in spring 2027. The new 83,000-square-foot, two-story building will replace the original school building, which was built in 1958.
