American Concrete Pumping Association Announces New Safety Director

The ACPA announced its first dedicated safety director: Tabah Nez. This inaugural position was created to further ACPA’s safety and certification programs for concrete pumping professionals. As ACPA Safety Director, Nez will be responsible for developing and overseeing all safety and risk management activities, including safety programs, committees, bulletins and resources. Swinerton, Mercy Housing California Inspire Next Generation of Builders, Architects, Engineers at ‘Minds Under Construction’ Steam Festival

Swinerton, in collaboration with affordable housing provider Mercy Housing California, announced dozens of youths participated in the “Minds Under Construction” festival in San Francisco’s Sunnydale neighborhood on Nov. 5. At the event, which was dedicated to advancing understanding and inspiring passion for the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, participants worked with 3D printers and learned about designing earthquake-safe homes, working with electrical circuitry and water engineering. USGBC Announces Updates to LEED v4

The U.S. Green Building Council announced updates to the primary version of the LEED green building certification program, LEED v4, to more directly address carbon emissions and climate change. With the change, building design and construction and Interior design and construction projects will be able to demonstrate improvement in energy performance with LEED v4.1’s metric of energy cost or greenhouse gas emissions in addition to LEED v4’s original source energy metric.
