NCCER Releases Spanish Translations of Core, Roofing and Concrete Construction Curriculum

The National Center for Construction Education and Research announce that three curricula are now available to students in Spanish. This includes Core Sixth Edition, Roofing Level 1 Second Edition and Concrete Construction Levels 1 and 2 Second Edition. While previous editions of Core curriculum have Spanish translations, this is the first time that Roofing and Concrete Construction are available in Spanish. The renewed Spanish translation efforts are part of NCCER’s goal to help organizations train skilled craft professionals in an increasingly diverse workforce. Virtual Conference to Highlight Career Opportunities for Former Military Members

The International Code Council will be hosting a virtual webinar, “Building Your Future: Career Paths for Military Veterans”, 1-2 p.m. CT Tuesday, May 10, as part of the Code Council’s yearly awareness campaign, Building Safety Month. Jennifer Macks Tapped to Expand Gilbane Building Company’s Global Design-Build Capabilities

Jennifer Macks has been promoted to vice president and director of Design-Build at Gilbane Building Company. In this newly created position, she will lead the company’s Design-Build program, working in partnership with project teams across the company. After leading Gilbane’s internal Design-Build initiative for the last two years, Macks and her team have implemented procedures for Design-Build project delivery and begun development of a specialized training curriculum for employees. Common Ground Alliance, Gold Shovel Association to Establish New Arm of CGA, the Damage Prevention Institute

Common Ground Alliance and the Gold Shovel Association will become part of the CGA. This new arm of CGA will be called the Damage Prevention Institute. The Damage Prevention Institute’s mission is to take the industry to the next level by consolidating the rich data and resources of CGA and GSA to generate powerful insights and efficiencies that will reduce the rate of damages to buried infrastructure. UK, U.S. Collaborate to Improve the Built Environment

A memorandum of understanding has been announced between representatives for the United Kingdom and the USA, cementing a pledge to work together on the development of the U.S. National Building Information Management Program. Marking the next step in a two-year collaboration, the MoU will see the National Institute of Building Sciences work with experts from the UK’s Centre for Digital Built Britain on the development of a National BIM Program for the U.S., supporting international alignment on technical standards for the built environment.
