Skanska has reached a major milestone with the topping out of the Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. The milestone represents the installation of 3,739 tons of structural steel and over 160,000 worker hours dedicated to the project to date. Upon completion, the $350-million facility will span 355,809 square feet across five stories and provide modern, flexible laboratory space, expanded research and core capabilities, as well as an area for researchers and partnering biotechnology companies. Balfour Beatty, in joint venture with Clark/Sullivan, celebrated the completion and grand opening of the new Cesar Chavez Elementary School for Sacramento City Unified School District. The newly constructed campus replaces both Edward Kemble Elementary and Cesar Chavez Intermediate School, uniting them into a single, modern learning environment. Skanska Breaks Ground on Novo Nordisk Life Sciences Center in North Carolina

Skanska has been selected by Durham Tech Community College to build the Novo Nordisk Life Sciences Center at the college, located in North Carolina. The firm recently broke ground on the project which includes the demolition of the existing building. Construction is expected to be complete in March 2027. The new single-story 30,700-square-foot center will house 12 flexible, ballroom-style open lab modules, additional classroom space and various break rooms. Swinerton Builders has completed the first phase of a $2.8 million, district-wide initiative to upgrade front entry vestibule systems for Spokane Valley and Liberty Lake’s Central Valley School District. The initial five of ten planned upgrades are now in place, reflecting CVSD’s commitment to creating safer, more controlled access points at its schools. Construction Begins on Modular Freestanding Emergency Department in North Carolina

Construction has started on the Atrium Health Concord Freestanding Emergency Department in Concord, North Carolina. The 11,021-square-foot project is being built entirely using modular construction. The offsite construction method produces an entire building in large modules – individual sections or units – that are then transported to the site, assembled and finished. This approach offers several advantages, including faster project timelines, improved quality control, reduced onsite workforce, reduced waste and minimized site disruption.
