Willmeng Construction has completed renovations of the President’s Cottage which housed Arizona State University’s presidents from 1907 to 1959. The house is now the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing. The Willmeng team led construction of a large, outdoor covered patio which provides the fondly referred to Piper Writer’s House with space to host larger gatherings, workshops and performances. The Piper Writer’s House was originally called the President’s Cottage and it served as the home for several university presidents until 1959 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Balfour Beatty and Roseville City School District celebrated the groundbreaking of Winding Creek Elementary School on March 25 with a ceremonial dirt turning event. The new 71,130-square-foot facility will serve 650 students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade, providing a learning environment designed to enhance educational opportunities for the Roseville community. The new two-story educational facility is being constructed on a 7.6-acre site. The school, designed by HMC, will feature flexible learning spaces including specialty learning areas, a library, multi-purpose building for indoor play, administrative support spaces, on-site sidewalks, playgrounds and landscaping. Construction Begins on Terraza Medical Village in Valley of the Sun
Construction has commenced on Terraza Medical Village, located in San Tan Valley, Arizona. The project team includes general contractor Kraus-Anderson Phoenix, developer Tri-City Cardiology Consultants Real Estate Holding Company and designer TriArc Design and Architectural Services. Tri-City Cardiology will be the first medical provider in the 12-acre campus which, when complete, will include five class “A” medical office buildings with a combined total of 100,000 square feet. General contractor Balfour Beatty has started construction on the Northern Virginia Science Center in Dulles, Virginia, for the Science Museum of Virginia. Once complete, the project will fulfill the region’s long-held vision for a world class, interactive and innovative science center, which is expected to serve over 300,000 visitors of all ages each year. The 70,000-square-foot Northern Virginia Science Center features five main exhibition galleries that will provide high-quality interactive and hands-on experiences, while incorporating nature and the surrounding environment. Redevelopment of Pennsylvania’s Historic Clayton University Center Complete
The $70-million redevelopment of Lehigh University’s historic Clayton University Center, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is complete. Skanska served as the general contractor on the project, with Shepley Bulfinch as architect. The project encompassed both interior renovations, as well as restoration of the exterior façade of the Clayton University Center, which ensured the building’s historic character was maintained throughout the construction process.
