Following two years of planning and construction, the concrete pour of the main tank of the $160-million Ocean Pavilion at Washington’s Seattle Aquarium is complete. The tank is two feet thick at minimum and includes 680 cubic yards of concrete and 355 tons of rebar – four times more rebar than a typical core. HOK and McCarthy have been selected by UCLA Health to transform the former Olympia Medical Center in the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles, California into a neuropsychiatric hospital. The renovation will transform four hospital buildings into a unified care facility for patients experiencing mental and behavioral health challenges. UCLA Health’s inpatient neuropsychiatric program is housed in the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, located within Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on UCLA’s Westwood campus. Stantec to Provide Architecture, Engineering Design Services for New Airport Control Tower in Anchorage

Stantec was selected by the Federal Aviation Administration to provide architecture and engineering design services for the new airport traffic control tower and terminal radar approach control base building in Anchorage, Alaska. The facility will provide air traffic control for Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, which also includes the Lake Hood Seaplane Base. Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Opens in Winter Park Village

Stevens Construction has completed Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Winter Park Village, Florida. The company completed an interior 37,000-square-foot renovation of an existing building into a new cancer center, which includes an expansive treatment room, PET CT suite, blood draw room, laboratory, pharmacy, research offices, exam rooms, check-out and scheduling area and employee lounge. FCS incorporates principles of Evidence-Based Design, which have been proven to ease patient anxiety while offering opportunities for privacy or support during treatment. Stevens Construction led the project with Heilman Architecture, P.A. and Peninsula Engineering.

Regents Approve More than $328M in New Construction at Texas A&M

The Texas A&M University System’s meteoric growth was fueled as regents voted to approve spending more than $328 million on capital projects across the state.
