Gilbane Building Company, STV and CD Smith have broken ground on a new integrated parking garage and athletic field project for Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. Designed by CD Smith, the new fields and integrated parking structure will support Wentworth’s continued growth as an institution and further improve the quality of student life. The softball and soccer fields will meet NCAA regulations, with a future field expansion planned that will accommodate 200-500 spectators and athletes. The new athletic field and integrated parking structure is slated for completion by 2023.
McCarthy Completes Barbours Cut Terminal Container Yard 3N
McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has completed construction on the Barbours Cut Terminal Container Yard 3N for the Port Houston Authority in Houston, Texas. The project is part of a modernization program to increase cargo handling efficiency. The container yard adds approximately 10 acres of new shipping container storage at the terminal complex. The company was tasked with a rehabilitation of the existing site which included new utility upgrades, new high-mast light poles and a realignment of the main interterminal access road through this area. OKO Group and Cain International’s 830 Brickell office tower has topped off construction at 55 stories. Once completed later this year, the project will be the first standalone office tower to be developed in Miami’s urban core in more than a decade. McCarthy Building Companies completed the framing of Forsyth Pointe, a nearly 1-million-square-foot mixed use development occupying an entire square city block in Clayton, Missouri. The development by US Capital Development features two steel-framed, all glass Class A office towers with street-level retail space offering spectacular views of the adjacent 30-acre Shaw Park.
