Gilbane Federal has been awarded a multiple award construction contract by Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southeast for the construction of a Littoral Innovation and Prototyping Facility at Naval Support Activity Panama City, Florida. The project supports the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division and will replace nine buildings that received damage from Hurricane Michael in October 2018. The work provides for construction of a 54,475 square-foot laboratory, and support space capable of housing workspace and laboratories for engineers and scientists. Nonresidential Construction Spending Expected to Moderate Through 2024
While spending on nonresidential construction picked up momentum toward the end of 2022, construction spending will moderate in 2023 and slow significantly in 2024, according to a new report from the American Institute of Architects. Despite macroeconomic headwinds such as inflation, rising interest rates and weak consumer sentiment scores, the AIA’s Consensus Construction Forecast panel is projecting nonresidential construction spending to grow 5.8% in 2023 but slow to under 1% in 2024. The Portable Generator Manufacturers’ Association requests a “Call for Members” for its BSR/PGMA G300-201x, Safety and Performance of Portable Generators (revision of ANSI/PGMA G300-2018) Standard, which is under revision. The proposed revisions include adding additional requirements related to carbon monoxide safety concerns. Ware Malcomb Completes Construction on New High-Rise Office Building in LA
Construction has been completed on a new high-rise creative office building in the arts district of Los Angeles, California. Ware Malcomb provided architectural design services for the project; Lowe developed the project; and Swinerton provided general contracting services. The nine-story project totals more than 113,000 square feet and is situated along the Los Angeles River.
