USGBC Announces Updates to LEED v4

The U.S. Green Building Council announced updates to the primary version of the LEED green building certification program, LEED v4, to more directly address carbon emissions and climate change. With the change, building design and construction and Interior design and construction projects will be able to demonstrate improvement in energy performance with LEED v4.1’s metric of energy cost or greenhouse gas emissions in addition to LEED v4’s original source energy metric. MCA Announces Details, Registration for 2023 Winter Meeting

The Metal Construction Association’s registration for its upcoming annual winter meeting is now open. Construction Spending Ticks Up, Driven by Nonresidential Construction

Total construction spending increased by .2% for the month of September and by 10.9% for the year as nonresidential construction activity now outpaces residential construction, according to an analysis the Associated General Contractors of America released of federal spending data. Association officials noted that gains in public sector transportation construction have lagged other fast-growing segments as officials grapple with Buy America and other new regulatory requirements. McShane Completes Three-Building Industry Center

McShane Construction Company provided design-build construction services for three speculative industrial buildings in Melrose Park, Illinois, on behalf of client LBA Logistics. Known as Industry Center at Melrose Park, the development incorporates a total of 651,617 square feet. The project team included Harris Architects. The company also performed three interior buildouts for a transportation, trucking and railroad company, a logistics and package delivery company and a portable storage and moving company. Michael Driscoll School Tops Out in Massachusetts

Officials from the Public Schools of Brookline joined students, alumni, families, educators, neighbors and representatives from Leftfield, Jonathan Levi Architects and Gilbane Building Company to celebrate the topping out of the 155,000-sqaure-foot Michael Driscoll School in Brookline, Massachusetts.
