Joint Venture to Deliver New 136-Bed, $375M Hospital in Washington, D.C.

The joint venture of Turner Construction Company and MCN Build were awarded the construction management contract for the construction of a new hospital at St. Elizabeths East in Washington, D.C. by Universal Health Services. The new 136-bed acute care hospital and ambulatory care pavilion will offer a wide array of critical health and specialty services to the community. The facility will include maternal health and newborn nursery and obstetric services. University of Kentucky Student Center Achieves Certificate of Occupancy

The University of Kentucky Student Center has achieved its certificate of occupancy from the state of Kentucky several months ahead of schedule. Turner Construction Company served as general contractor on the project. Despite the difficult weather this winter, the team collaborated with the architect, engineers, owner, maintenance department, building management team and Aramark to complete the space on time and ahead of schedule.

SEAA Supports Fall Prevention Safety Stand-Down

The Steel Erectors Association of America supports the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction. The week-long focus on fall prevention will be held May 3-7. “The Stand-Down is an important initiative for erectors to get behind. Construction Adds 110K Jobs in March, ABC Says Here Comes Tsunami of Growth

The construction industry added 110,000 jobs in March, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The industry has added 931,000 jobs since April 2020, recovering 83.6% of the jobs lost during earlier stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. The construction unemployment rate fell to 8.6% in March from 9.6% in February, but it is still 1.7 percentage points higher than in March 2020.
