Electrical Contracting Company Honored for Exemplary Safety across Nation

The National Electrical Contractors Association recently awarded Rosendin with 12 Safety Achievement Awards. NECA’s annual award program is an elite safety recognition that highlights electrical companies with excellent safety and health programs whose injury and fatality rates are lower than the industry standard. Three Rosendin offices were honored with NECA’s 2020 Safety Achievement of Zero Injury for working a full calendar year without any recordable incidents. Dodge Construction Starts Post Small Gain in May

Total construction starts rose 3% from April to May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $595.1 billion, following a 25% decline the previous month. Several large nonresidential building projects broke ground in May resulting in the gain. Removing those large projects from the statistics would have resulted in no change in starts over the month. In May, nonresidential buildings increased 8%, while residential building starts rose 4%. Nonbuilding starts, however, declined 4% during the month. American Iron and Steel Institute Report Supports Development of New Energy Standard

The American Iron and Steel Institute has published a new cold-formed steel framing research report, “AISI RP20-2: Development of a U-Factor Calculation Procedure for Cold-Formed Steel C-Shaped Clear Wall Assemblies.” The report is available for free download at http://www.buildusingsteel.org. The research was undertaken to support a new energy standard being developed by AISI’s Committee on Framing Standards. Joint-Venture Team Wins Project of the Year, Partnering Awards

Joint-venture partners Sundt Construction, Inc. and Kiewit continue to earn awards for their work on the Ina Road Traffic Interchange. The two-and-a-half-year project was recently awarded the 2020 “Public Works Projects of the Year” by the Arizona Chapter of the American Public Works Association in the category of Transportation: over $75 million and the 2019 Arizona Department of Transportation Partnering Award. The construction manager at-risk project involved reconstruction of the interchange at Ina Road as a precast concrete bridge overpass to I-10.
