MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Modjeski and Masters has been selected for the Statewide Movable Bridge contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation. As the prime consultant on this contract, Modjeski and Masters will perform as-needed detailed structural, mechanical, electrical and/or hydraulic inspections of movable bridges across the state of Michigan. Strong Economy, Weaker Dollar Help Construction Materials Prices Recover in January

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Overall construction input prices increased 1.1 percent in January, reversing a slight decline in December 2017, according to a recently released Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Compared to this time last year, overall construction materials prices are up 4.9 percent. Nonresidential construction materials prices are up 4.7 percent year over year and up 1 percent on a monthly basis. FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Southern Illinois Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Program have signed an alliance to provide members of the St. Louis – Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council with training and resources to prevent common construction injuries. The two-year alliance will focus on preventing exposures to electrical, fall, struck-by, caught-in-between, fire, explosion, lockout/tagout and confined spaces hazards at all CRC signatory jobsites throughout southern Illinois. Hill & Wilkinson Completes Southwest Airlines Pedestrian Bridge

Hill & Wilkinson General Contractors has completed a 5,500-square-foot pedestrian bridge for Southwest Airlines. The bridge connects Southwest’s Headquarters building to its Training Operational Support building, located in Dallas, Texas, and includes an elevator, stairs and an ADA door in its circulation tower. The bridge allows employees to safely travel between the two buildings and from other parking lots while maintaining a secure campus. The total length of the bridge is approximately 750 feet.
