BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Salvation Army of Greater Birmingham recently broke ground on The Salvation Army Center of Hope in Birmingham, Alabama. Salvation Army Leadership were joined by elected officials, donors and local community partners at the construction site for formal groundbreaking ceremony, and spoke about the dramatic difference the new Center of Hope will have on the lives of thousands of individuals, as well as the community and the city. New Construction Starts in June Drop 7 Percent

NEW YORK, N.Y. – New construction starts in June decreased 7 percent from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $595.1 billion, according to Dodge Data & Analytics. The non-building construction sector (public works and electric utilities) fell sharply after being lifted in May by the start of a $3.8 billion oil pipeline in the upper Midwest and seven large power plant projects totaling $4.3 billion. Throughout the month, industry and education partner locally to host events that introduce students to rewarding construction careers. Hill International Named Construction Manager for Measurement Systems Lab

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. and HAMPTON, Va. — Hill International has received a contract from the U.S. General Services Administration, on behalf of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, to provide construction management services in connection with the Measurement Systems Laboratory to be built at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. The 30-month contract has an estimated value to Hill of approximately $3.2 million. The new $80-million MSL is the third phase of a multi-year master plan known as the “Revitalization Program” for NASA’s Langley Research Center. Construction spending dipped in May but posted strong, broad-based gains for the first five months of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015, according to a recent analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America.
