MYCON General Contractors Begins Renovation, Modernization of 1970s Office Building
MC KINNEY, Texas — MYCON General Contractors has begun work on the exterior and interior renovation of its future company headquarters, a three-story, 46,071 square-foot office building located at 17311 Dallas Parkway, in Dallas, Texas. MYCON bought the building in in the fourth quarter of 2015 and will relocate to the new building in the spring of 2017. Originally constructed in 1979 and situated on a 1.9-acre tract, the building will be completely gutted and reskinned. Construction is targeted for completion in January 2017. O’Brien Architects is the architect.

Delbert Feenstra of Knutson Construction Receives Builder of the Year Award
Delbert Feenstra, of Knutson Construction’s Rochester, Minnesota division, has recently been named Builder of the Year by the Rochester Area Builders Association. Out of five nominees, Feenstra was selected by the association’s board of directors, an honor recognizing him for his time, enthusiasm and dedication to the association over the past year. Feenstra has been an active member of the RAB for nine years. In 2015 Feenstra served on the Development and Permit Process Advisory Committee, Program Committee, Executive Committee and board of directors.
U.S. Non-Residential Construction Retreats 6.9% in December
Non-residential construction starts declined 6.9 percent from November to December in the U.S., according to a new report from construction data provider CMD. December’s new construction total, $22.2 billion, was 7 percent lower than December 2014. The retreat in construction starts was only slightly higher than the construction activity typical of November to December. However, compared to the five-year average for December from 2010 to 2014, starts increased 9.2 percent.
