Balfour Beatty was awarded an £83-million contract by Hub North Scotland to construct the new Forres Academy school in Moray, Scotland, on behalf of the Moray Council. Through the contract, the project team will be responsible for the construction of the new 12,143-square-meter secondary school campus, which will include facilities such as a new 3G artificial grass sports pitch and car park. During construction of the new underground U5 line in Hamburg, Germany, U5 GmbH will use steel fiber-reinforced concrete segments in tunnel construction for the first time in Germany, marking a major milestone for the project. These prefabricated concrete components, used to line and stabilize tunnels, reduce traditional steel reinforcement by replacing steel bars with finely distributed steel fibers within the concrete.
