VINCI to Rehabilitate Louis Hippolyte Lafontaine Tunnel, Montreal

The Quebec Ministry of Transportation has selected consortium Renouveau La Fontaine, comprising VINCI subsidiaries – Eurovia, consortium leader and Dodin Campenon Bernard – and Canadian company Pomerleau, to rehabilitate Louis Hippolyte Lafontaine Tunnel and its access roads. The tunnel was opened in 1967 and is the longest underwater structure in Canada, covering a distance of 1.5 kilometers beneath the Saint Lawrence River. It is a strategic transport corridor for the Montreal urban area, linking the eastern part of the Island of Montreal to the city of Longueuil. The heritage-protected Schader office building is a modern architectural gem in a prime location on the banks of Lake Zurich in Switzerland. Balfour Beatty and 50/50 joint venture, Gammon, has been awarded a four-year HK$12.88-billion contract for the expansion of terminal 2 at Hong Kong International Airport, by the Airport Authority Hong Kong. Gammon will be responsible for the expansion of the main terminal 2 building and construction of interconnecting bridges, mechanical and electrical works, as well as associated viaducts and roads. Construction of the King’s Cross Sports Hall, a community sports center and gym, located at the northeast edge of the 67-acre King’s Cross development, has now completed in London, England. BAM Construct UK served as general contractor on the project.
