The joint venture of Consolidated Contractors Company and Shapoorji Pallonji Middle East’s Mall of Oman Project — located in Dubai, U.A.E. — was awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum certification this spring. The Mall of Oman project achieved a Platinum certification under the LEED 2009 Core and Shell Development rating system with a total of 81 points. Turner recently celebrated the topping out of the Intuit Dome’s concrete frame – the Los Angeles Clippers’ future home along with joint venture partner AECOM-Hunt. More than 200,000 hours of work performed by 350 workers went into completing the concrete frame. The new six-story Behavioral Health Teaching Facility, at University of Washington’s Medical Center-Northwest in Seattle, will include 150 patient beds and more than 184,000 square feet of clinical and administrative space. The project will feature 75 long-term civil commitment beds, 25 geropsychiatric beds and 50 licensed med-surgery beds with the capacity to treat patients with psychiatric diagnoses and/or substance use disorders. Gilbane, in a joint venture partnership with cleanroom constructor Exyte, has been awarded the firm fixed price construction of a new a $279-million Advanced Compound Semiconductor Laboratory/Microsystem Integration Facility for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory located at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. MIT LL is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center chartered to apply advanced technology to problems of national security.
