Crane Industry Services, LLC is working with staffing company AEG to help returning members of the military become job-ready in the construction trades as they transition back into the civilian workforce. The Department of Defense program is called SkillBridge. AEG pairs the individuals to partnering employers, while CIS evaluates their military credentials and trains them for a construction career. Sean Ray Assumes National Construction Workforce Development Leadership Role

Sean Ray, director of craft workforce development for Sundt Construction, has been named vice-chairman of the National Center for Construction Education and Research National Workforce Development Committee. Training Grant Awarded Ironworker Skills Institute

The Steel Erectors Association of America has awarded the Ironworker Skills Institute, located in Pell City, Alabama, this year’s SEAA Craft Training Grant. Designated for member companies who are newly implementing SEAA/NCCER Ironworker Training and Assessment programs, the grant covers initial setup, training for administrators, instructors and coordinators and custom training materials for Ironworker Levels 1-3, or similar curriculum. Kickoff Celebration Held for NCCER-Certified Apprenticeship Program

Workforce Solutions of Williamson County in Texas, along with TDIndustries, recently held a kickoff celebration of TD’s registered apprenticeship program. In a partnership with North Texas’ Construction Education Foundation, TD provides a 20-week training program for HVAC and plumbing employees as their first step of apprenticeship. Participants can learn the basics of pipefitting, plumbing and sheet metal work in the first course, and receive advanced training in subsequent semesters.
