Macomb Community College Celebrates Grand Opening of Skilled Trades and Technology Center

The new Macomb Community College Skilled Trades and Technology Center on the College’s South Campus in Warren, Michigan, is now open. Barton-Malow served as the general contractor. The 130,000-square-foot center offers programs designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing, technology and the skilled trades. Many programs will be housed in the building, including apprenticeships, computerized numerical control machining, drafting, computer-aided design, electronics and fluid power technology, land surveying, media and communication arts, mechatronics, product development, robotics and welding. Dedication Ceremony Held for Robins & Morton Construction Field Laboratory

Auburn University’s College of Architecture, Design and Construction and Robins & Morton recently celebrated the dedication of the Robins & Morton Construction Field Laboratory, located in Auburn, Alabama. A facility of the CADC’s McWhorter School of Building Science, the first-of-its-kind lab will advance hands-on education and research. It was made possible with support from its namesake construction firm -valued at more than $1.3 million. Construction Employment Rises by 7K in September Amidst Tight Labor Market

Construction employment increased by 7,000 jobs in September and by 156,000, or 2.1%, over the past 12 months, while the number of unemployed jobseekers with construction experience reached a record low for September, according to an analysis of new government data by the Associated General Contractors of America. New PORR Campus One-of-a-Kind Austrian Pilot Project

The grand opening of the PORR Campus was recently celebrated on the PORR premises in Vienna Simmering (Austria). This in-company center for further education and training will allow PORR to expand its three-pronged apprentice system with an additional fourth pillar, thereby elevating the existing curriculum for vocational apprentices and professionals to a new level.
