The Abu Dhabi Investment Office, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, along with consortium partners BESIX and Plenary, have inaugurated the Zayed City Schools. Developed under the UAE’s first public-private partnership model for school infrastructure, this milestone project sets a new standard for private sector participation in the development of Abu Dhabi’s social infrastructure. Turner Construction Company, joint-venture partner AECOM Hunt and the Los Angeles Clippers, celebrated the grand opening of the $2-billion Intuit Dome located in Los Angeles, California. The first event in the arena was a sold-out Bruno Mars concert. The 17,700-seat venue holds five basketball courts including the homecourt of the NBA’s Clippers, a practice facility and has an outdoor plaza for gathering. Construction is complete on The Birmingham, an historic Campbell Soup factory site redeveloped as a three-building facility to accommodate light industrial and E-commerce uses in the South Etobicoke district near downtown Toronto, Canada. Ware Malcomb provided architecture design services for the 398,000-square-foot project. General contracting services were provided by Leesswood Construction. Owned by QuadReal Property Group, the three new buildings range from 157,710 to approximately 120,000 square feet, each with 36-foot clear heights.
