Final Steel Beam Placed for University of Georgia School of Medicine Building

The final beam for the University of Georgia School of Medicine’s medical education and research building was set into place Nov. 25. Turner Construction Company is serving as the project’s general contractor. The 93,000-square-foot building, located on UGA’s Health Sciences campus in Athens, Georgia, will serve as the primary educational building for the School of Medicine. Included in the design are large, active-learning classroom spaces, an anatomy lab, a simulation center, a clinical skills center, individual and group study options, a student lounge and well-being spaces. Turner Construction Company and Tennessee Oncology celebrated the opening of the $105 million Midtown Medical Office Building, a five-story, 311,881-square-foot facility that will serve as a hub for cancer care in Middle Tennessee.
