Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert and representatives of BAM Sports GmbH recently signed the general contractor agreement for the conversion and expansion of the Heinz Steyer Stadium into a multifunctional sports and event facility, located in Dresden, Germany. The order includes general contractor services for a turnkey and operational handover to the state capital Dresden, including all the necessary planning and construction services. Vertical Construction Grows Tall at New Australian Embassy Building
In downtown Washington, D.C., vertical construction is underway at the Australian Embassy’s new chancery after a year-long effort onsite to remove the existing building and excavate the below-grade structure. Built by Clark Construction and designed by Bates Smart, the 220,000-square-foot chancery will feature a custom curtainwall system and expansive interior glass atrium, as well as open assembly spaces, an exhibition gallery, event spaces and offices. Construction Seasons Begin at Antarctic Research Hub
A 20-person-plus team is working on the second season of building a new science and operations building located in Antarctica. Construction can only take place during a short window during the Antarctic summer months, avoiding the harsh, dark winter. This season, the team aims to complete the pre-cast concrete foundations, ground floor slab, rock anchors and stub columns, as well as drainage and the perimeter wall, before returning in December to complete the outer structure. New Waipapa Building at Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand Accepting Patients
Patients are now being cared for in the new Waipapa building at the Christchurch Hospital, located in New Zealand. The Waipapa building, formerly known as the Acute Services Building, is the largest hospital project ever delivered in New Zealand and has been constructed to stringent seismic requirements.
