Gilbane Building Company, along with B+H Architects/Spina O’Rourke, has been contracted to provide preconstruction and construction management at-risk services for the 111 Olive Avenue project. McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has begun construction on the Ismaili Center in Houston, Texas, the first Ismaili Center in the United States. McCarthy is the general contractor on the project but is also self-performing all the concrete work. Spearheaded by the Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, the cultural center will serve as a gathering space open to all faiths. Hoffman Media recently held a groundbreaking-style event to commemorate the project kick off, share architectural renderings and publicly announce plans for its new downtown headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. The project team includes construction firm Robins & Morton and architect Williams Blackstock Architects.
