BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Brasfield & Gorrie has completed the residential and retail portion of a renovation to The Pizitz, a historic building in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. In the early 20th century, Birmingham’s Pizitz department store was a popular retail destination. Built in 1923, the landmark structure welcomed generations of shoppers, withstanding the economic hardships of the Great Depression and the social upheaval of the Civil Rights era. The store closed in 1987 and sat dormant until 2015, when a major renovation began that would help breathe new life into the abandoned structure. Skanska to Build I-15 Express Lanes Project in California’s Inland Empire

Skanska and joint venture firm Ames Construction have been awarded a $243.9-million Design-Build contract from the Riverside County Transportation Commission to construct new express toll lanes on the I-15 freeway in California. Skanska USA Civil will include its $146.3-million portion of the contract in its Q1 2017 order bookings. The project will improve I-15 between Cajalco Road and State Route 60, adding two tolled express lanes in each direction, a distance of 14.6 miles. Mortenson to Help Build Community Ties with $38M Wellness Center

CHICAGO, Ill. – Mortenson Construction is launching a major renovation and expansion of Harper College’s sports and wellness center to create a state-of-the-art health and recreation center for the Palatine, Illinois community college and Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
