The topping out of the Women’s Sports Program Expansion project at Clemson University in South Carolina was recently celebrated. The project expansion has reached its full height for new and upgraded facilities that will serve lacrosse, gymnastics and rowing teams. Brasfield & Gorrie is the general contractor on the project. Clemson’s Women’s Sports Program Expansion is the largest recent expansion of women’s sports in the nation. UC San Diego Medical Center, Hillcrest Outpatient Pavilion Tops Out
The new outpatient pavilion at UC San Diego Medical Center, Hillcrest (California) has topped out. Part of the first phase of the UC San Diego Long Range Development Plan, the six-story, 250,000-square-foot facility will house key clinical programs, addressing the region’s growing demand for specialized diagnostic, treatment and surgical services, notably in cancer care. Lehigh University Awards $70M Contract to Redevelop Historic Clayton University Center in Pennsylvania
Lehigh University has awarded construction and development firm Skanska a $70-million contract to redevelop its historic Clayton University Center located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The 24-month project will encompass both the renovation and preservation of the existing Clayton University Center, while maintaining the historic nuances of the building. The DPR Construction and SmithGroup design-build team topped out the UC Davis Health 48X Complex, a new four-story, 268,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center in Sacramento, California. In addition to hoisting and placing the final piece of steel, the event featured a celebratory luncheon for construction workers, trade partners and key stakeholders. 48X is a key piece of UC Davis Health’s strategy to serve the community and help address the ambulatory operating room capacity shortage at the university’s main hospital. McCarthy Begins Preconstruction on Barry Rose Water Reclamation Facility
McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has begun preconstruction work on the Barry Rose Water Reclamation Facility located in Pearland, Texas. The project is part of the city’s effort to support its rapidly growing population by improving water and wastewater facilities. The new treatment facility will be able to handle 5 million gallons per day. The scope of work includes updating the 50-year-old existing plant, assisting with critical maintenance and replacing mechanical components at the end of operating life to ensure efficient operation until the new facility is complete.
