Ware Malcomb provided architectural design services for the project; Lowe developed the project; and Swinerton provided general contracting services. The nine-story project totals more than 113,000 square feet and is situated along the Los Angeles River. Paradise Pointe of Ormond Beach and construction firm Robins & Morton celebrated the grand opening of the locally owned and operated three-story, 75,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care community in Florida. Following the Jan. 7 ribbon cutting, future residents and their families, community members and local business leaders participated in guided tours of the luxury, resort-style setting that includes 87 private apartments, a full-service restaurant with outdoor seating, fitness center, billiards room, movie theater and spa. The National Fire Protection Association released its 2023 Industry Trends Survey, which reveals insights around employee sentiment on training and labor shortages, use of technology on the jobsite and how technology supports their top priorities. Nearly half of respondents (45%) said a shortage of qualified workers would be their biggest challenge at work in 2023. Cyril Keller and Louis Keller will be posthumously honored as part of the 50th class of National Inventors Hall of Fame inductees. Brothers Cyril and Louis Keller played a key role in launching the compact equipment industry in the late 1950s and early 1960s with their invention of the world’s first compact loader, which became the Bobcat skid-steer loader. Western Specialty Contractors Restores Pedestrian Bridge Connecting Minneapolis Parking Structure, Office Building
Western Specialty Contractors contracted with S and S Development to restore a damaged pedestrian bridge connecting the four-story Ridgedale Office Center to its parking structure in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Years of severe winter weather had deteriorated the concrete bridge, and ultimately the collision of a horse trailer into the structure prompted its immediate repair. Western worked directly with engineering firm Walker Consultants to design a replacement bridge railing system and estimate the repair work.
