During Mental Health Awareness Month, CONEXPO-CON/AGG is donating $5,000 to the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention, supporting its initiatives in mental health within the construction sector. Founded by the Construction Financial Management Association in 2016, the CIASP’s mission is to dismantle the stigma attached to mental health within the industry. By 2018, it evolved into an independent 501(c)(3) entity, focusing on suicide prevention awareness, providing essential resources, and fostering a community committed to eliminating suicides in construction. AIA/Deltek Release Latest Architecture Billings Index

Architecture firm billings remained soft entering into 2024, with an AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index score of 46.2 in January. Any score below 50 indicates decreasing business conditions. “This now marks the lengthiest period of declining billings since 2010, although it is reassuring that the pace of this decline is less rapid and the broader economy showed improvement in January,” said Kermit Baker, Ph.D., AIA Chief Economist. “Firms are seeing growth with inquiries into new projects and value of newly signed design contracts is holding steady, showing potential signs of interest from clients in new projects.” Business conditions remained weak at firms in all regions of the country except the Midwest, where modest … Read more

AdventHealth Off-Site Emergency Department Opens in Winter Haven

A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the opening of a new AdventHealth off-site emergency room in Winter Haven, Florida. The nearly 20,000-square-foot, 24-bed freestanding ER is the first phase to be built on a 42-acre site, which includes space for a full-service hospital and medical office building. The AdventHealth Winter Haven ER features a resuscitation room, a bariatric room, an isolation room, obstetrics-friendly room and pediatric-friendly rooms. Two triage rooms near the lobby help get patients seen and into treatment quickly. The ER offers lab services, X-ray, CT and ultrasound scans. Department of Labor to Restructure OSHA Regional Operations

The Department of Labor has announced strategic changes to the structure of its Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s regional operations designed to direct its resources effectively and make the agency more resilient. The changes include the creation of a new OSHA regional office in Birmingham, Alabama, overseeing agency operations in the state, and those in Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee, as well as the Florida Panhandle. The Birmingham Region will address the area’s growing worker population and the hazardous work done by people employed in food processing, construction, heavy manufacturing and chemical processing.
