Largest Capital Improvement Project Underway in City of Canton

Construction has begun on the Canton Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion project in Canton, Georgia. The $67-million project is the largest capital improvement project undertaken in the city’s history. The project will be fully funded by Canton’s Water and Sewer Fund revenues. Clark Construction Group and joint venture partner Reeves Young is serving as the general contractor. Atkins is the project engineer. Jon Stemme recently joined the KAI Build team as project superintendent. In this position, he will coordinate and inspect the work of various subcontractors and field personnel on projects. He will also monitor the quality and workmanship of the construction operations, safety, schedule compliance and profitability. Stemme has over 31 years of project superintendent experience. Ground Broken on Rehab Unit for West Marion Community Hospital

Ground was recently broken on West Marion Community Hospital’s inpatient rehabilitation unit for Ocala Health. Located in Ocala, Florida, the nearly 44,500-square-foot, 36-bed expansion will become the hospital’s first inpatient rehabilitation unit. The unit will also feature a gym for physical and occupational therapy, as well as its own dedicated dining area. It is slated for completion in late 2022. Robins & Morton is serving as the general contractor and Gould Turner Group is the architect.

New Educational Facility to Enhance Ongoing Revitalization Efforts in Pawtucket

The Pawtucket, Rhode Island School Department has selected Gilbane Building Company to provide construction management at-risk services for the new 93,964-square-foot Henry Winters STEAM Elementary School. Designed by the SLAM Collaborative, the new educational facility will feature three levels and accommodate 643 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth. The school will be built on the 2.60-acre site of the old facility, which was demolished in the spring of 2020, and is situated in a thickly settled, urban neighborhood.
