STRABAG Breaks Ground for New Training Center in Austria

Construction company STRABAG recently celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its new apprenticeship training center in Ybbs an der Donau, Austria. The company is investing a total of approximately € 10 million in the new location, which will have the capacity to train some 250 apprentices a year. After completion of the building permission application, the groundbreaking marks the start of construction as planned on the 31,000-square-meter site. Kickoff Celebration Held for NCCER-Certified Apprenticeship Program

Workforce Solutions of Williamson County in Texas, along with TDIndustries, recently held a kickoff celebration of TD’s registered apprenticeship program. In a partnership with North Texas’ Construction Education Foundation, TD provides a 20-week training program for HVAC and plumbing employees as their first step of apprenticeship. Participants can learn the basics of pipefitting, plumbing and sheet metal work in the first course, and receive advanced training in subsequent semesters. High School Students Learn About Trades, Job Opportunities at 2019 Hudson Valley Construction Career Day

More than 750 local high students recently got an up-close look at trade-career opportunities in the region at the annual Hudson Valley Construction Career Day, located in Suffern, New York. Students filled the Rockland Community College Fieldhouse in Suffern and learned tools of the trade straight from the experts. Leaders of construction and building unions, and private-sector companies helped students participate in hands-on skill-building demonstrations such as welding, carpentry and soldering.
