The project team has been selected for Cottonwoods Long-Term Care Facility in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, and includes Stantec and Bird Construction Group, led by Interior Health in partnership with the Central Okanagan Regional Hospital District and the syilx Okanagan Nation. The four-story facility will provide residents living in Kelowna and Central Okanagan access to improved care in a homelike environment. The project reimagines three core elements of traditional long-term care: the physical environment, philosophy of care and a workforce model. Joint Venture Tapped for New Adult Corrections Facility Replacement Project in Canada

The negotiations between the government of Newfoundland and Labrador and New Avalon Corrections Partners have culminated in a final project agreement, which includes financial close on the Adult Corrections Facility Replacement Project in Canada. In June, ground was broken on the site as the result of an Early Works Agreement valued at approximately $1.5 million, that allowed NACP to begin site preparation while the comprehensive project agreement was being finalized. Fluor Corporation’s joint venture with JGC Corporation has been awarded the contract to update the Front End Engineering and Design for a proposed Phase 2 expansion of the LNG Canada facility located on the traditional territory of Haisla Nation in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada. This award follows the commissioning of Phase 1 with the recent shipment of the project’s first liquefied natural gas export cargo. Construction Plastics Initiative Advances Sustainable Building Practices in Metro Vancouver

Light House, an organization focused on advancing circular practices in the built environment, and its Construction Plastics Initiative, which launched in 2024 to capture, divert and upcycle plastic waste from Metro Vancouver (Canada) construction sites, have added two new construction project partners — the Freedom Mobile Arch with general contractor EllisDon Corporation and the Steveston Community Centre with general contractor Scott Construction.
