A new 74-meter-long wharf—bigger, deeper and stronger than the current one—will be built during the next two Antarctic seasons. It is due for completion in April 2020, and will provide safe berthing and efficient operations for the new polar research vessel the RRS Sir David Attenborough. Northacre, Multiplex Sign Contract for Delivery of ‘The Broadway’

Developer Northacre has selected Multiplex to deliver The Broadway development in Westminster, England, with the official contract signing recently carried out. Following a successful nine-month, single-stage competitive tender process for the £422m Design-Build contract, Multiplex will now deliver the 1.72-acre mixed-use development on the site of the former Metropolitan Police headquarters. Once completed, The Broadway will comprise 268 apartments across six towers, 142,000-square-feet of commercial and retail accommodation, public realm and a new thoroughfare linking Victoria Street with St. James’s Park tube station. Balfour Beatty has been selected by the University of Reading, England, to deliver its new £33-million Health and Life Sciences building. Balfour Beatty will be responsible for the construction of the 7,500-square-meter state-of-the-art teaching and research facility which, on completion, will form an integral part of the University’s 10-year campus regeneration program.
