Site preparation and construction has begun on the new $1.7-million St. Paul’s Hospital project in Vancouver, Canada. At more than 2 million square feet, this will be the most extensive hospital redevelopment in British Columbia’s history. The hospital will offer a diverse and long list of general and specialized care. It will also include a multi-level underground parking garage, public plaza, new roads and civil infrastructure. Plenary Health consortium recently achieved financial close on the largest-single health infrastructure investment in the State of Victoria — the AUD$1.5-billion Footscray Hospital in Australia. The joint venture of Turner Construction Company and MCN Build were awarded the construction management contract for the construction of a new hospital at St. Elizabeths East in Washington, D.C. by Universal Health Services. The new 136-bed acute care hospital and ambulatory care pavilion will offer a wide array of critical health and specialty services to the community. Memorial Healthcare System’s Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital’s vertical expansion, located in Hollywood, Florida, recently topped out. Robins & Morton is serving as the general contractor and the architect is HKS, Inc. Once all work is complete in the fall of 2022, the four-floor, 164,038-square-foot expansion will include 72 new patient rooms, two cardiac hybrid operating rooms, two surgical suites and an intraoperative MRI.
