Contract Signed to Build Longest Suspension Bridge in World

Italy’s Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development recently approved the definitive design for the Strait of Messina Bridge. The design also includes a series of significant complementary works strategic for the area. The approval follows the signing of the addendum to the contract between Stretto di Messina, the concessionary company and Eurolink, the general contractor led by Webuild. Plans for New €3.2B Semiconductor Assembly, Test Facility Underway in Italy

Silicon Box has selected Stantec and its partner, Drees & Sommer, for the new €3.2-billion semiconductor assembly and test facility in northern Italy. Stantec will provide architecture for the administration areas and infrastructure design including overall permitting services, while Drees & Sommer is contributing industrial engineering, architecture, structural engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering and clean room/dry room design for the production and utility buildings. A general contractor has not yet been selected for the project. Consortium Wins €934-Million Rail Bypass Contract in Italy

Webuild and its consortium partners have won a €934-million contract from Rete Ferroviaria Italiana of state rail operator Gruppo FS Italiane for a rail bypass at Lot 3A of a project in Trento, Italy. Webuild, which has a 55% stake in the consortium, will lead the design and construction of approximately 13 kilometers of rail line, nearly all of it underground, as part of a quadrupling of the Fortezza-Verona section of the high-speed railway south of the Brenner Base Tunnel. Webuild will lead the consortium that will build a breakwater for the Port of Genoa with partners Fincantieri Infrastructure Opere Marittime, Fincosit and Sidra in a project valued at €928 million. Webuild will have a 40% stake in the consortium. The breakwater — known in Italian as “Nuova Diga Foranea” — will be a unique project worldwide due to its scale and engineering complexity.
