Restoration is underway on a curtainwall at Accenture Tower, a 1.46-million-square-foot, 42-story Class A office and retail property in Chicago, Illinois. The project team includes Western Specialty Contractors and KBS. The tower, completed in 1987 and formerly known as 500 West Madison, has twice earned The Outstanding Building of the Year Award Internationally by The Building Owner and Managers Association. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat has selected the David Rubenstein Forum at the University of Chicago (Illinois) as the best tall building worldwide in 2022. CTBUH also recognized The David Rubenstein Forum as the 2022 Best Tall Building under 100 meters and the 2022 Best Tall Building in the Americas. Construction at the Frank E. Moss Courthouse is underway after a wall-breaking ceremony recently took place in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Dozens gathered at the courthouse, a historic treasure, including representatives from the General Services Administration, HOK Design, Preservation Utah, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah and Big-D Construction. TK Elevator’s Innovation and Qualification Center, featuring the tallest elevator test tower in North America, has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification. Brasfield & Gorrie was the project’s general contractor. To achieve LEED Gold certification, the IQC realized a 12% reduction in embodied carbon compared to typical construction through concrete mix optimization — using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash. This approach saved 2.36 million pounds of carbon-dioxide emissions.
