Work has started on the new £15-million Templehall Community Hub located in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. Recent drivers using Scotland’s busiest motorway were the first to drive under the new iconic footbridge successfully installed by BAM Nuttall. The 14-hour closure of the M8 motorway commenced with BAM Nuttall, and specialists Mammoet, driving the main span of the 2,420 ton structure down the M8 and into its final location. Moving the unusually shaped 58-meter hourglass structure required meticulous planning to manage a range of challenges. Balfour Beatty to Build £32M National Treatment Centre in Scotland
Balfour Beatty has been awarded a £32-million contract to build a world-class ophthalmology and orthopedic health facility in Inverness, a city in the Scottish Highlands, on behalf of NHS Highland. The general contractor will construct the 8,305-square-meter National Treatment Centre, including 24 inpatient rooms, five operating theatres, clinics and outpatient departments. Balfour Beatty recently completed the new temporary NHS Scotland Hospital, NHS Louisa Jordan, at Glasgow’s Scottish Events Campus, on behalf of the Scottish Government. Acting as principal contractor, Balfour Beatty completed construction, along with its local supply chain and partner contractors, in just 20 days. The clinical facility, which has been constructed to provide extra patient capacity, will provide 1,036 beds for COVID-19 patients, should NHS Scotland require additional flexibility during the pandemic.
