Topping-Out Reached for Radford University’s Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity Project

Skanska has topped out on Radford University’s new Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity on July 22. Located in Radford, Virginia, the 178,000-square-foot building will replace the existing space for the College of Visual and Performing Arts and create interdisciplinary student spaces. CAIC represents the largest capital construction project in the history of Radford University in terms of total project funding and square footage. Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for New North Ogden Public Safety Building

Big-D Construction and partners including the city of North Ogden broke ground on a public safety building in Utah. The project, awarded to Big-D Construction and JRCA Architects in 2021, is a $12.4-million design-build project. At 25,000 square feet, the facility is a single-story building and will be home to the North Ogden Justice Court, police department, code enforcement, animal control and a new holding facility. Estimated completion on the building is slated for August 2023.

McCarthy Finishes Construction on Advanced Technology and Applied Sciences Building   

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. completed construction for the Advanced Technology and Applied Sciences building at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. This effectively finishes the original scope of the three-year project set out by the college. The new facility, which opened June 2022, was completed in partnership with national architecture and design firm HED and is a 52,913-square-foot LEED Gold-Equivalent multidisciplinary space.   The main layout of the building connects directly to the campus pedestrian network. Construction Begins on Spelman College’s Center for Innovation and the Arts

Construction has started for Spelman College’s Center for Innovation & the Arts in Atlanta, Georgia. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor on the project. The 84,000-square-foot education center will house Spelman College’s creative and scientific disciplines in one dynamic space. The building will serve as a catalyst for interdisciplinary interaction, and will bring together a vibrant community of innovators, collaborators, artists, musicians and scientists. A Forum invites participation from multiple disciplines and a Hive, or network of connected spaces, encourages interdisciplinary experimentation, collaboration, active play and research. The $75-million project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024.

Swinerton Completes Presidio Tunnel Tops Park Project in San Francisco

Swinerton completed the Presidio Tunnel Tops project, a 14-acre park that sits atop the Presidio Parkway tunnels in San Francisco, California. The $118-million project replaces Doyle Drive. The park features scenic overlooks, trails and picnic areas, alongside views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The area is surrounded by meadows that host 180 varieties of plants native to the area.
