The former industrial town of Drammen in Norway is getting a makeover. And PNC Norge, a subsidiary of the Austrian PORR AG, is playing a major role in shaping it. Ground Broken on Harkers Island Bridge Replacement Project for North Carolina DOT

Ground was recently broken on the $60-million Harkers Island Bridge Replacement project on behalf of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The project will replace two 50-year-old bridges to increase capacity for emergency access and evacuation, and reduce congestion and delays for marine vessels and vehicular traffic. Balfour Beatty is serving as general contractor on the project. A single, 3,200-foot-long fixed-span bridge will be constructed to replace the existing Earl C. Delaware River and Bay Authority Awards Memorial Bridge Protection System

Modjeski and Masters has recently been selected for the Delaware Memorial Bridge Protection System contract with the Delaware River and Bay Authority. As the prime consultant for this contract, Modjeski and Masters will design a vessel collision protection system for the northbound and southbound structures of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The firm will design new pier protection cells and replace the channel-side fender system for the tower piers.
