Construction at the Frank E. Moss Courthouse is underway after a wall-breaking ceremony recently took place in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Dozens gathered at the courthouse, a historic treasure, including representatives from the General Services Administration, HOK Design, Preservation Utah, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah and Big-D Construction. TK Elevator’s Innovation and Qualification Center in Atlanta Achieves LEED Gold Certification

TK Elevator’s Innovation and Qualification Center, featuring the tallest elevator test tower in North America, has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification. Brasfield & Gorrie was the project’s general contractor. To achieve LEED Gold certification, the IQC realized a 12% reduction in embodied carbon compared to typical construction through concrete mix optimization — using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash. This approach saved 2.36 million pounds of carbon-dioxide emissions. Construction of the 40-floor Astra Tower luxury residential high-rise officially broke ground, marking a significant milestone in the history of Salt Lake City, Utah’s skyline and its downtown residential offerings. Empire State Development, a Lendlease/Turner joint venture with tvsdesign, provided Design-Build services for the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The $1.5-billion project will generate millions of dollars in new economic activity for New York City, while serving as a model of environmental efficiency and sustainability.
