Following extensive enabling works since the beginning of the year, construction of the UK’s largest entertainment arena in Manchester, England has recently begun, kickstarting a wave of economic activity and job creation across Greater Manchester. Co-op Live is being built by BAM Construction, with almost £150 million of the construction orders have already been placed with local firms. Joint Venture Completes Design-Build Work on 1st Wastewater Treatment Plant in B.C.

Design-Build work has been completed on the first wastewater treatment plant in Victoria, British Columbia. The McLoughlin Point Wastewater Treatment Plant provides tertiary treatment for wastewater from the core area municipalities of Victoria, Esquimalt, Saanich, Oak Bay, View Royal, Langford and Colwood, and the Esquimalt and Songhees nations. Work at the facility began in 2017 by Harbour Resource Partners, a joint venture between AECOM and Graham. ZÜBLIN to Deliver New Public Administration Center in Germany

STRABAG subsidiary ZÜBLIN and Dreßler Bau GmbH are working together as management contractors in a consortium to realize the new public administration headquarters in the heart of Dresden (Germany). The Design-Build contract, which will leave its mark on the Dresden cityscape, was awarded by Kommunale Immobilien Dresden GmbH & Co. KG with a fixed lump sum price of € 116 million. Construction on the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s New Education and Research Building is underway. Shawmut Design and Construction has been selected to build the nine-story biomedical research and education facility, which will support laboratory research growth and acceleration into new therapeutics for some of the most challenging diseases that humans face. Balfour Beatty to Build £32M National Treatment Centre in Scotland

Balfour Beatty has been awarded a £32-million contract to build a world-class ophthalmology and orthopedic health facility in Inverness, a city in the Scottish Highlands, on behalf of NHS Highland. The general contractor will construct the 8,305-square-meter National Treatment Centre, including 24 inpatient rooms, five operating theatres, clinics and outpatient departments. In addition, the company will build minor operation and procedure rooms, consulting rooms, a café, children’s play area and office support rooms.
