Construction on the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s New Education and Research Building is underway. Shawmut Design and Construction has been selected to build the nine-story biomedical research and education facility, which will support laboratory research growth and acceleration into new therapeutics for some of the most challenging diseases that humans face. Balfour Beatty to Build £32M National Treatment Centre in Scotland

Balfour Beatty has been awarded a £32-million contract to build a world-class ophthalmology and orthopedic health facility in Inverness, a city in the Scottish Highlands, on behalf of NHS Highland. The general contractor will construct the 8,305-square-meter National Treatment Centre, including 24 inpatient rooms, five operating theatres, clinics and outpatient departments. McDonald’s Flagship-Disney Aims for Net-Zero Status

The McDonald’s Flagship-Disney, located in Orlando, Florida, recently completed construction, and aims to become the first net-zero restaurant in the quick-service industry. Under a shed clad in solar panels, the 8,024-square-foot restaurant, built by Southland Construction and designed by Ross Barney Architects, was envisioned and developed in response to the Florida climate. Energy consumption is reduced by optimizing building and kitchen systems.
