Benchmark General Contractors Breaks Ground on Midpoint Gateway Retail Center in Cape Coral

Benchmark General Contractors held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, June 17 for Midpoint Gateway Retail Center, a 7,500-square-foot multi-tenant retail development in Cape Coral, Florida, marking the official start of construction.  The new retail center will offer space for five businesses, with leasing opportunities still available. GMA Architects and Planners is serving as architect on the project, with Moody Powell Structural Engineers as structural engineer. Sonnhalter Continues Tradition with 17th Annual Tool Drive

Sonnhalter will host its 17th Annual Tool Drive in partnership with Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity. Since launching the initiative in 2010, Sonnhalter’s Tool Drive has raised $603,000 in donations to support Habitat’s mission of providing safe, affordable housing opportunities throughout Northeast Ohio. The tool drive will run throughout the month of August. Organizations, businesses and manufacturers are encouraged to donate demo models, extra inventory, tools and building materials to benefit Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity. Prefab Delivers New Freestanding Emergency Department in North Carolina

A ribbon-cutting was held for Atrium Health’s new freestanding emergency department in Concord, North Carolina. The 11,021-square-foot project was built entirely using modular construction. The 10-bed facility was completed in less than 10 months. The offsite construction method offers several advantages, including faster project timelines, improved quality control, reduced onsite workforce, reduced waste, and minimized site disruption. Because much of the work occurs simultaneously – site preparation and module fabrication – projects can often be completed more quickly than with traditional construction methods. Robins & Morton was the general contractor for the project. Blox was the architect and manufacturer.

MOU to Drive Resiliency, Sustainability Throughout Global Built Environment

NEU: An ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete and the Resilience Action Fund have signed a Memorandum of Understanding documenting a shared commitment to advancing the adoption of resilient construction practices that will enhance the service life of structures that include concrete or potentially increase the use of concrete in the new and/or existing built environment. SEAA Honors Steel Construction Projects Showcasing Precision, Execution

The Steel Erectors Association of America announced the winners of its 2026 Projects of the Year, recognizing excellence in reinforcing steel and structural steel construction. Reinforcing Steel is a new category. Other categories include Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals.
