A construction milestone was reached recently when the final structural beam was placed — topping off the building that will become the new home for the University of Washington School of Medicine-Gonzaga University Health Partnership’s medical and health education, research and innovation center, located in Washington. The new four-story, 90,000-square-foot building will feature classrooms, an anatomy suite, research labs and administrative offices. These will be utilized by 120 first- and second-year UW medical students, faculty, staff and more than 500 undergraduate students from Gonzaga’s health sciences programs. Joint Venture to Deliver New Upscale Hotel Connected to Georgia World Congress Center

A joint venture led by Skanska, along with SG Contracting, Inc., has been selected to build the world’s first newly constructed Signia by Hilton hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Skanska and SG Contracting are providing preconstruction and construction management services for the more than $308-million project, which will be connected to and serve as the headquarters hotel for the Georgia World Congress Center. Construction on the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s New Education and Research Building is underway. Shawmut Design and Construction has been selected to build the nine-story biomedical research and education facility, which will support laboratory research growth and acceleration into new therapeutics for some of the most challenging diseases that humans face. The Quarterdeck Restaurant on the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, for decades has been a staple for visitors and local residents. It will now stand to exist for many more thanks to a major construction project underway.
